Gary Lazetera Memorial Award - Region One Senator of the Year

Senator Gary W. Lazetera #22078 was President of his Ludlow, VT Jaycee chapter in 1968.  Upon the chapter presenting him a Senatorship, he became very active with the Vermont JCI Senate, serving his first year as President in 1978, and again seven more years over three periods of time, the last in 2004. His dedication to the Senate was without question, which included as a key figure in Region One.

While Vermont Senate President during 1980-81, Gary and Region One National Vice President Dave Habershaw #17879 of Rhode Island, collaborated to establish the first Region One Fall Frolic held in Brattleboro, VT. Forty plus years later, their vision still proves to be successful. Gary was elected as the Region One NVP the following year, and continued his involvement with the JCI Senate through the years. As state president, he established a scholarship program for VT, and convinced the VT Exec Board that the state should present Senatorships to Forgotten Jaycees. The first Forgotten Senatorship awardee was Rosaire Longe.
